HLF_Review_2013

79 sessions will be introduced to give the young researchers the opportunity to present their scientific work. After a successful start the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation will set the course for the next event: The high level already attained with the first Forum will be maintained and used to create a new international hub for both disci- plines. The laureates, the young researchers, all guests, friends and supporters can certainly look for- ward to seeing how these challenges will be met, and above all the Foundation looks forward to seeing all at the 2nd Heidelberg Laureate Forum! Welcome | About the Forum | The Participants | Communications | HLF Diary | Résumé “After a certain high level of technical skill is achieved, science and art tend to coalesce in aesthet- ics, plasticity, and form. The greatest scientists are artists as well!“ Albert Einstein Since its beginning in 2008 the traveling exhi- bition IMAGINARY received universal acclaim and broad media interest. The exhibition, which includes several programs for mathematical visualization, was prepared by the Mathema- tisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach in 2008 as contribution to a nationwide science cam- paign, the Year of Mathematics. IMAGINARY uses visual and aesthetic compo- nents of mathematics and geometry as an eye- catcher. Often the amazingly beautiful images obey quite simple formulas. In summer and autumn 2014 the HLF will bring IMAGINARY to Heidelberg and the guests of the 2nd Heidelberg Laureate Forum are invited to visualize their own mathematical formulas.© Barth Sextic by Oliver Lab, IMAGINARY.
