As you might imagine... set up and tear downcanbedifficultifyoudon’tadheretothe rules. This town was laid out in with horses and buggies in mind... not big trucks loaded withcrafts! Soifyougetaspacepleasemake sure to follow the rules so everyone can get in and out in the most efficient and safest way possible. The show sponsors have run this many times in the past so they know the drill...andtheyknowhowtomakeeverything work just right. Another thing in the long list of “what’s done right” is support staff. This isn’t a one man show! There are staff members everywhere to give you a hand when you need it. So even if you typically do a show byyourselfyou’llhavetheopportunitytouse the bathroom and take that five minute break during the day that you so desperately need! WellIthinkbynowyouhavethepicture. This is a great show to do even if you much travel some distance to participate. Sales are virtually always good and it’s not just the cheap stuff that sells! I’ve seen work leave the show in just about any price range you could imagine. And although this spring event is primarily a craft show (they don’t even have art in the name), the crafts you’ll see are almost all outstanding and some of the best available. If you’re interested in being a part of this show then by all means... apply early! Especially if you make something that is very competitive like jewelry. Bear in mind that not everyone will get into the show. That doesn’t mean your work isn’t good... this event has a lot of applicants and plenty of excellent exhibitors must go to another show. In fact, I know that one of the goals the sponsors have is to rotate exhibitors every so often so what is being displayed doesn’t get stale. Unlike a lot of places in Florida, this area seems to have a very stable population. Thegoodnewsistherepeatsalesareexcellent from year to year for those people who have a following. If you sell any kind of craft... then this one needs to be on your schedule! Florida Blueberry Festival Brooksville, FL April 11 - 12, 2015 Florida Blueberry Festival 9386 Apple Valley Dr Weeki Wachee, FL 34613 352-279-2038 www. oridablueberryfestival.org This was the first time I’ve every attended the Florida Blueberry Festival so like any show I’ve never attended one never knows what to expect! It’s always a pleasant surprise when that show turns out to be well attendedandhasagreatgroupofexhibitors... andthat’sexactlywhatIfound. Ifthereisany drawback that I see... it’s the expense to get into the show. The organizers have blocked off all available parking and they’ve turned it into paid parking. So when a shopper first arrives they a dinged for $10.00 to park. Everywhere you’d normally think to park is roped off with police tape and signs about being towed! Net comes the admission. If I remember correctly I think it was $8.00 to get in the gate. Multiply that by even a family of four and before you ever even hit the pavement you’ve already dropped just under $50.00. Personally I think that’s a bit steep... but I guess I’m just cheap because there were thousands of people paying that and they all seemed to not be phased by the prices at all. I did hear a little grumbling among the exhibitors that they felt sales had suffered a bit because of the cost to get into the show. Actually that is a double edged sword. On one hand you could think that money paid at the gate is coming directly out of the pockets of the exhibitors. On the other hand you could think that this separates those who are serious about coming to a festival fromthosewhojustwanderaboutbecauseit’s Eastern Edition “Where The Shows Are !!!” Spring 2015 to Winter 201627
