. 34 It was a warm summers day. The birds were out singing, the trees were all green and there was a hint of apple in the air. Me and a couple of my buddies were young, we had floppy hair and a sex drive which could kill. We had reached a random pub as we often did in them days being 17 and full of energy. The pub looked worn out and seemed to have been stuck in a decade where booze was cheap. We walked through the pub to the back garden where a cider festival was happening. That’s when they approached us. Two girls one skinny the other slightly plump. The plump one snorted as she spoke. Best leave this one to old Smiley I thought, edging her towards his path. The look on his face was like a jab in the kidneys. So we whacked on our shades and threw a few killer lines out there. We’d done the classic we’re in a band line, the girls had sank their claws. We wanted too see how far we could push it so we named a more popular band. Hook, line and sinker. The skinny girl looked at me and said I can believe you are but im not sure about the other two. Quickly explaining the logistics of who played what and that if we were allowed we’d play a few tunes there. Which luckily for us we wer- en’t allowed. The next thing I remember I was in a taxi. The girl grabs my arm and drags me out of the taxi leaving my two buddies left in the taxi alone. She pulls me too the door of a club where a stereotypical looking bouncer snarls at me “Got any I.D.?” Luckily for me in them days fake i.d. was the easiest thing to get hold of. My fake I.D. was the bomb I can remem- ber countless times for which it worked. I’d given myself a funny surname and made myself seem a little more exotic so I could act out a different persona when I got to the door. Anyway so we reach this club and entered. I grabbed her body and we started to embrace in a kiss. That’s when I noticed it. As my hand fondled to her back probably because during the age of 17 I was going through a stage where I liked to undo girls bras while snogging them. Anyway so im fondling this girls back when all of a sudden I notice it. It was like thin icing sugar in my hand. Just falling off. I shook it off my hand with- out this girl noticing and placed my hand back on her back. Yet again I notice it. Now either I’m really pissed, have been spiked or my hallucinations are coming back but im seriously freaking out. I have no idea whats happening. I go to the toilets to try and calm down and obviously go for a piss. As I return to the dance floor I notice it. I look at this girls back as the strobes hit her. She’s falling apart literally. Now I wasn’t a shallow person so instead of being freaked out even more I returned to the dancefloor and decided fuck it, it’s weird but I can deal with this. I go for a smoke and re- turn but too my amazement this girl has only fucked off with some other guy. Absolutely shocked I convinced myself that the sex would have been quiet flaky and I probably would have been quiet freaked out in the morning. So now I was alone in a club, no way of getting home, drunk, and my night was about to get a whole heap of shit weirder. to be continued... Music and recreational drug use have had a long standing relationship. Whether you’re a musician who uses drugs to get the creative juices flowing or you take drugs to enhance your clubbing experience, we understand that for some music and drugs go hand in hand. We neither condone nor condemn recreational drugs use.  The drug scene has been changing for a while, with the increasing use of drugs like ketamine or mephedrone and the potential issues they bring. Or the emergence of novel psychoactive substances, commonly known as legal highs, even though they may not always be legal or produce a high. B-Chilled is a specialist club drug service in Birmingham. We’re here to meet the needs of people who take drugs in clubs and bars across the city. Here at B-Chilled we aim to give people the right information so they can make informed choices regarding their drug use and hopefully reduce some of the risks that are often associated with this. As well as club drugs we also offer advice and guidance on alcohol, safe sex and personal safety in Birmingham’s night time economy. B-Chilled is staffed by a small team with lots of experience in the substance misuse field. As well as paid staff we also have a whole crew of committed and highly motivated volunteers who come out with us. We work across the city in lots of different venues on week nights and weekends, so you might see us at the Rainbow, on Broad Street or the Arcadian centre. You’ll know us when you see us, we have a stand with lots of freebies and will be decked out in B-Chilled apparel!  If you would like to access the service because you are concerned about your own or someone else’s use of club drugs or alcohol then come and speak to us if you see us out and about.
