27 28 A stone floor of traditional Celtic design patterns will be installed celebrating the significance of this Roman Catholic place. The traditional reworked wood reredos, and the matching side aisles wood screens, will be restored and embellished. The historically significant statues of the 12 apostles will be restored and incorporated into the reredos. New iconic statuary will complete the embellishment of the reredos. The great chancel stained glass window, the most important historically and one of the most spectacular in North America is of the “antique” variety which is hand-blown in typical medieval style resulting in deeper colour when compared to typical machine- rolled glass used in other churches of the period. The chancel window is the largest piece of stained glass in the cathedral and is located on the east side of the building. The window was created by the noted French artist Étienne Thévenot, the same artist who created some of the windows for Notre Dame.
