Stewart 34 Yachting-The First 50 Years-Book

8 -The design was outstanding and much more than a 1959 breakthrough boat. -50 years on, the Stewart 34 is still a quick ride to the Barrier, Coromandel or Kawau. - 34 feet is just the right size for New Zealand sailors and always excellent value for money. - They are wonderful cruising boats. As the face of New Zealand sailing changed through the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with family sailing becoming so significant, the Stewart 34 was just right. The amount of room down below is ideal for family cruising. -The loyalty of Stewart 34 owners has been a significant factor behind the success of the class. Fifteen families have owned one or more Stewart 34’s for long periods, many well over twenty years.      - The class organisation has always been excellent. Professionally run by astute amateur volunteers. Excellent class rules with a very good handicapping system. The Stewart 34 has made an impact on New Zealand sailing like no other class. It has been a wonderful half century that leaves a legacy to be envied and for the next generation still to be enjoyed. Sailing a Stewart 34 has become a way of life.
