Stewart 34 Yachting-The First 50 Years-Book

The Stewart 34 has made an impact on New Zealand sailing like no other class. It has been a wonderful half century that leaves a legacy to be envied and for the next generation still to be enjoyed. Peter Montgomery The Stewarts... were a great proving ground not just for the skippers and helmsmen but the whole crew as many who have raced have gone on to sail internationally with great success. Brad Butterworth The Stewart 34’s were the first stage of match racing development in New Zealand. The local racing was fiercely competitive which helped to create a large pool of excellent crew that went on to prominently feature in many of New Zealand’s major international campaigns. Russell Coutts They really are a great boat and taught us all skills back then that clearly built a great foundation for taking on yachts of all shapes and sizes in years to come. If you could trim, drive, manouever, and generally sail a Stewart 34 well then you could sail any boat on the planet as well as anyone. Chris Dickson
