2015 JURY BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY (CONTINUED) Jerry W. McDaniel He is an American heterogenous visual artist whose work covers many venues: graphic design, illustration, fine arts, advertising, book covers, institutional work, posters, record album covers, and film titles. He was the chair of the Advertising, Package, and Graphic Design Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT/SUNY), New York. He has curated and juried numerous art competitions for the New York Society of Illustrators, FIT/ SUNY, and the New York Institute of Technology. Jerry was honored by the Broadcast Design Association with their Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to broadcast design in education. He earned his BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD), Columbus, Ohio, and an MA from the New York Institute of Technology in computer art. He studied with Henry Pearson and Angelo Savelli at the New School for Social Research (NSSR). He now lives and works in Los Angeles, California. He has studios in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Montparnasse, Paris, France. Youn Woo Chaa While living with the Tukano Indians of the Amazon forest, Youn learned the craft of weaving. Through direct participation in an essential skill of everyday life and survival of the Baniwa, Chaa has mastered the common patterns and techniques that thread a network of over 400 tribes of the Amazon, despite their disparate languages and cultures. Chaa has invented a process of translating non-patterned graphic plots into the reed weave. He is presently working on a project in Tijuana, Mexico, La Mano de la Paz, The Hand of Peace. He has exhibited extensively, most recently at the Google Gallery at the corporate headquarters in Venice Beach, California.
