The entire city is actually a borough (we have no counties in Alaska) stretching north toward the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and south to the community of Girdwood, a 1,961-square mile package. With the Alaska spirit of exploration in mind, Anchorage offers plenty of car rental agencies and most offer models to accommodate the entire crew. For the best deal, rent off the premises of Ted Stevens International Airport, since many agencies offer shuttle service to and from their offices.
