Spring Alaskans go slightly bonkers in springtime, reveling in daylight and jumping about in their rubber boots through the slush. During an Alaska winter, the opposite strategy must sometimes be employed, especially with respect to babies and younger children who are still under the spell of darkness-equals-bedtime. If yawns start appear- ing around 5 p.m. and your family hasn’t even had dinner, try taking the kids outside for a ski or snowshoe, or visit a sledding hill between dinner and bedtime.
