IN A POSITION OF LEADERSHIP DESCRIBEYOUR ROLE ASTHE PRESIDENT OFTHEYOUNG DEMOCRATIC PARTY. I serve as both the steward of the Young Democrats of Georgia which has over 37 chapters state wide and as a member of the Executive Committee for the Democratic Party of Georgia. In both capacities, my goal is to make sure young people have a seat at the table in Democratic politics in Georgia. WHAT ISYOUR INFLUENCE IN BECOMING POLITICAL INVOLVED INTHE COMMUNITY ANDWHY DO YOU BELIEVE ITS IMPORTANTTO BE INVOLVED INTHE POLITICAL PROCESS? I was raised to have a profound respect for those who serve our communities. I believe that there is a degree of nobility in public service. That is was drives me to be engaged in the politic process. I believe that it is important for folks to be politically engaged because as the old adage says,“if you don’t have a seat at the table, you are likely on the menu.”I think that it is vitally important for young people, the LGBT communi- ty, and communities of color to be politically engaged to hold those in public service accountable for building a prosperous future for everyone, not just the wealthy and influential. HOW EFFECTIVE ISYOUR ROLE ANDTEAM MEMBERS’EFFECTIVELY IMPLEMENTING CHANGE INTHE COMMUNITY? I think that when you look at the work that our chapters have done around the state, it speaks for itself. We have chapters actively registering voters, doing community service projects, and lobbying our leaders for positive change in our communities. THOSE ARE LASTING CONTRIBUTIONS. IN FOURWORDS, WHO IS COREYT. BOONE? Tireless, Quirky, Honest, and Fun. WHAT ISYOURVISION FORTHE YOUNG DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF GA? That we become a organization of Young professional committed to making lasting contributions for our communities. WE HAVE SEEN AN INCREASE VISIBILITY IN LGBT ISSUE LOCALLY AND NATIONALLYWHAT AREYOUR VIEW ON EQUALITY AND HOW IT RELATESWITHINTHE DEMOCRATIC PARTY? We are the only party in the state of Georgia that believes in and is working toward equality for ALL Georgians. AS A NATIVE GEORGIAN, INTHE LAST FIVEYEARS HAVEYOU SEEN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEENTHE DEMOCRATIC PARTY ANDTHE LGBT COMMUNITY CHANGED AND IF SO, HOW? I think that we have seen a number of our leaders shed worn out ideologies as it relates to the LGBT community. If my position on the Executive Committee and as President of theYoung Democrats of Georgia has helped shift opin- ions for some of our leaders, then I think I this year has been a success.
