Entertainment THOMAS PLANT DAN DARLING Thomas has worked as an auctioneer for 20 years starting as a porter after leaving university where he read ‘Fine Art Valuation’ and ‘Gemmology’. It was always his dream to own and run his own auction rooms. In 2005 he and his business partner took over Special Auction Services, with a sales calendar of eight auctions a year, now they have a sales calendar of over fifty auctions and handle all collector departments for Christies Auctioneers. Fifteen years ago he was asked if he would be the auctioneer for a new show called Bargain Hunt as one of their experts, still to this day it’s one of the BBC’s most popular day time show, pulling more than 40% of the viewers audience. With the popularity of antiques and auctioneering he’s been lucky enough to also work on Flog it and ‘The Antiques Road Trip’. Thomas is currently filming his 10th series of ‘The Antiques Road Trip’ in the Republic of Ireland and Wales in a 1969 Bedford van! In between his auctions and media work he is busy training for the Windsor half marathon for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. He hopes to beat his really fast time of last year!
