DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN ENGINEERING The Ph.D. in Engineering Program consists of seven emphasis areas including Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computational Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Geological Engineering.These emphasis areas coincide with the current ones under the Master of Science in Engineering graduate program. A dissertation research proposal must be approved and a doctoral dissertation demonstrating original and advanced research must be completed and successfully defended at the end of each student’s study as partial fulfillment of the degree requirements. It is designed to provide students with advanced theoretical, analytical and applied interdisciplinary research training so that they may join the workforce in industry, academia, government entities and present themselves as future leaders in computing-centric and Big Data fields.
