CSET has highly talented faculty who are extremely competitive in writing successful proposals and obtaining grants from federal agencies and corporations. Together with their students, they conduct innovative STEM research that advances scientific knowledge and addresses societal problems. Most recently, CSET obtained $10.7 million from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop the biomedical infrastructure at JSU and conduct innovative research that addresses important health issues of concern to the vulnerable and underserved communities. Last year, several other competitive grants totaling over $20 million were secured by the faculty from national agencies such as U.S. Department of Defense; Department of Homeland Security; Department of Education; Department of Energy; NIH; and the National Science Foundation; as well as from corporations such as Northrop Grumman; Union Pacific; and others.
