When developing New Year expectations we all might come with the same objectives, having all in mind the importance of make EY and our organizations growth at the time we develop ourselves in professional and personal matters. We might think about how to make the company more contracts, more clients, more sales, more profit, less costs, about how to bring us great challenges and great performances, how to have and develop better business tools and how to have better work recognitions for us and our people. This all come clear by now. So let’s include another factor in this picture: Our communities. We all have a sense of belonging in our geographies, regardless of the place we were born, we develop ourselves in the place we live in, and it is a major necessity of societies around the world to engage people living in their locations to feel identified with them in a way that they worry about in how to contribute to improve the community where we live. With that said, a great New Year goal to be included in this 2014 is how we can make growth the companies we contribute for, achieving professional and personal growth for ourselves, but at the same time we should worry also in participating inside our organizations in positively impacting the communities we live at in better and deeper ways. We all develop that knowledge and that sense of urgency of the activities and necessities that needs to be covered in our geographies. By living in a location, we come to know what, how and where our communities really needs for a help, for that little push that could make things be better for all of us, so let’s do it this year! Central America and the Caribbean need a lot of the very best organizations and their very best contributors placed at their locations taking the work that need to be done in their hands and not only giving the entire responsibility of happenings to our governments. We all might know of that community where their leaders have the best of intentions but not all the technical knowledge to cover all community needs, so let’s volunteer with a training plan for them, sharing some of the great professional knowledge EY has; we all could know of that ONG that is hoping this year for some company or organization to come to them in order to develop a Partnership that take them to the next level, so let EY be that organization; we all might know of that community initiative that is willing that more and more hands come to help them in charity events, so let EY charity activities help that community initiative be a reality. Be part of “Hago La Diferencia” and contribute with new initiatives. Let communities be part of our year goals this 2014, our communities need us now!
