CAW_Annual Fundraiser_2014 FINAL

Tribute to Ron Fleming The Center for Art in Wood hosted an extremely successful event last year honoring our founders, Albert and Alan LeCoff. The Trustees of the Center decided to develop an annual Founders’ Fundraiser which honors important people in our history and significant events from our past and present. This year we pay a fitting tribute to Ron Fleming. Ron was instrumental in the development of the Center in its beginning stages. He was on our founding Board of Trustees prior to gaining our non-profit status, and upon achieving corporate status, he was the first Secretary of the Board and served through some of our most critical and difficult periods. His efforts went a long way in establishing the Center as an important force in the world of wood art and the emergence of wood art as an integral part of the craft movement. Aside from his efforts with the Center, Ron is one of the most distinguished wood artists whose style has and continues to evolve in a distinctive fashion. His current work is highly recognizable, beautiful in its detail and a must for any serious collector. Ron has made an extremely important contribution to this year’s Founders’ Fundraiser. He has generously made available a number of his works from his private collection which will be sold to our members and the general public with half of the proceeds being donated by Ron to the Center. Charitable contributions such as this help the Center to further its mission of “continuing to be the preeminent arts and education organization advancing the growth, awareness, appreciation and promotion of artists and the creation and design of art in wood and wood in combination with other materials.” We honor Ron for his past contributions and also look forward to his new achievements and work, which we know will in and of itself be worthy of everything which preceded this event.
