CAW_Annual Fundraiser_2014 FINAL

Ron is one of the 5 founding members of the Northeastern Oklahoma Woodturners Association. He has been very important to the club’s development which has a current membership of over 100. From the beginning of his turning career, Ron’s creative and design talents have brought him to the attention of woodturners and art collectors everywhere, and his influence is evident in the rise of popularity of wood as an art. He drew the attention of museum curators early on and was picked as one of 15 woodturners to create a piece for the White House collection in 1993. Over the years since the club was formed, Ron has done countless demonstrations for the members, served on the board of directors, shared freely his design and carving talents, and has coached many individual members on his airbrushing and carving techniques. Ron recently designed and had installed a 5 by 27 foot photomural on a dividing wall in the NEOWTA club house. We, as the members of the NEOWTA, are very proud of Ron, and recognize the contribution he has made to our organization. We are also very pleased that The Center for Art in Wood is recognizing and honoring him for his contribution to this highly influential organization. All the members of The Northeastern Oklahoma Woodturners Association Ever since I went to my first Center for Art in Wood exhibit at the Port of History Museum in the late 1980s, I was hooked! The beauty of the wood and objects had me floored. Ever since I’ve been able, I’ve been collecting, and our house has become more beautiful as a result! I try to get to every exhibit possible, and am constantly amazed by the quality and beauty of the work. The field has been progressing at an amazing rate, and the complexity and beauty of the Art has been ever increasing. I’m grateful to Ron for helping to get the Center started, and for his amazing and gorgeous work! I’m also thankful to have Albert and Tina as close friends, and grateful to the Center for giving me a great excuse to see all of them more often. I hope the Center continues to grow and thrive as it has been in its beautiful new gallery! Best of luck for the future! I know you’ll continue to impress! Many thanks, Andrew Bender 38 39 3839
