LIFESTYLE & LEISURE 19 DESI EXPRESS www.desiexpressonline.com Thursday, November 5, 2015 ShivYog becoming popular with doctors in North America By Gurmukh Singh After Yoga and alternative medicine, Shiv Yog is now gaining fast acceptability in North America. Shiv Yog — also called inner yoga, as opposed to external yoga or hatha yoga or plain yoga — is about unleashing dormant self- healing powers, says Shiv Yog exponent guru Avid- hoot Shivanand who taught its techniques to over 250 American doctors at the first Global Shiv Yog in- tegrative Science Beyond Science Conference at Trenton in New Jersey re- cently. The Shiv Yog guru, who then flew to Toronto with some of the American doc- tors to interact with the Indo-Canadian community, stressed that Shiv Yog tech- niques unleash the power of self-healing. If we have the power create a disease, we also have the power to cure it. He said the human body is made of 50 trillion cells and every second, 5 mil- lion cells die. But if we can create new cells faster than dying cells, our health will improve. “When a person falls sick, his vibrational cellular frequency decreases. But with Shiv Yog meditation, sick cells frequency returns FormerIndo-CanadianSenatorAshaSethwelcomingShivYogexponentAvidhootShivanandattheSringeriVidyaBharatiFoundation inToronto. to normal and cures the per- son,’’ the Shiv Yog maestro told the packed audience at the Sringeri Vidya Bharati Foundation in Toronto. Indian-American cardi- ologist Bindu Kansupada, who is one of the doctors who combine Shiv Yog techniques with modern medicine and accompanied Avidhoot Shivanand to To- ronto, said doctors have seen amazing results in their patients. “We have measured sig- nificant improvement in patients who practised Shiv Yog. Morbidity, mortal- ity and hospitalization have come down. Even the read- mission rate for heart fail- ure and unstable angina has come down significantly,’’ said Dr Kansupada, who is based at Langhorne in Pennsylvania, in his pre- sentation about the impact of Shiv Yog techniques on patients. “Modern western medi- cine is great for acute care, but for chronic care man- agement such as diabetes, depression, heart problems, auto-immune disorders and cancer, combining western medicine with Shiv Yog prevents complications, enhances recovery and pro- vides possible cure for in- curable conditions.’’ He said most American doctors familiar with inte- grative Shiv Yog principles have reported significant benefits for themselves and their patients. “We doctors share the principles of Shiv Yog cos- mic energy healing. We emphasize to our patients power of self healing. We teach them Shiv Yog breath- ing exercises with scien- tific explanation, relaxation techniques, the science of belief, the science of neu- ron-plasticity, the science of connection, the science of love, the science of visual- ization, etc. We emphasize: Cure is possible.” Referring to the grow- ing popularity of Shiv Yog as part of integrative health care in the US, he said, “Many hospitals are having their professionals trained Shiv Yog practices — prayanam, breathing, relax- ation, anger management, how to safely vent out your anger, how to love people, how to create positive vibes, etc. In fact, over 125 local hospitals have already cre- ated integrative health care departments. The NIH (Na- tional Institutes of Health) is also investing lots of money to know the impact of inte- grative health care.’’ — News EastWest
