14 ENTERTAINMENT DESI EXPRESS www.desiexpressonline.com Thursday, November 5, 2015 BOLLYWOOD SNIPPETS Soni Razdan’s directorial venture goes on floors 2016 Mumbai — Yesteryear actress Soni Razdan will start shooting for her much delayed film “Love Affair” in Janu- ary. The film features Ali Fazal and Kalki Koechlin. Fazal, who made his Bollywood debut with a special appearance in “3 Idiots”, is set to essay the role of a pro- tagonist in Razdan’s directorial and he is excited. “Earlier, Arjun Rampal was offered the role but due to some reason he is not doing it and I got this role. The film will go on floor this coming January,” Ali said here at the 17th Jio MAMI Film Festival. “The film is a period film set in Bombay in 1950 and inspired from true events which I can’t talk about.” Supriya Pathak to play ‘self-made’woman New Delhi — A new TV show “Jaane Kya Hoga Rama Re”, which will highlight how every individual has a de- mon in them, was launched here this week. Veteran actress Supriya Pathak, who plays a key role in it, has described her character in it as that of a “self-made woman”. The show talks about the social evils plaguing individu- als. Produced by Shobhana Desai Productions, the show, which will air on Life Ok starting November 16, will also feature actors Vinti Idnani and Jatin Sharma. “My character in the show is that of a self-made wom- an, a lonely woman, who has seen a lot of difficulties and faced them enough. Using that strength to have faced cer- tain experiences, she is able to deal with any situation. “She does not believe she is weak at any cost. She deals with people’s problems and believes she will be able to help,” Supriya said. “Jaane Kya Hoga Rama Re” is a story of characters Nandu and Raju. It is set against the backdrop of their dys- functional neighbourhood. Vinti, who plays a traffic police officer Nandu, said her character “believes in doing what’s right or wrong without considering the impact it might have on other people”. Talks on for Main Aur Charles sequel on Sobhraj escapades Kolkata — Enthused with the success of “Main Aur Charles”, filmmaker Prawaal Raman is now gearing up to helm a sequel, an Indo-French collaboration, that will showcase notorious serial killer Charles Sobhraj’s esca- pades in Europe. “We are in talks with our collaborator in France... the sequel will showcase Sobhraj’s life in Europe. It will be in French and in Hindi and will hopefully be ready for release by 2017,” Raman told the media here. Narrated from the point of view of former Indian Police Service officer Amod Kanth, “Main Aur Charles”, clari- fied Raman, is not a biopic but depicts Sobhraj’s famous jailbreak from Tihar in 1986. Randeep Hooda portrays Sobhraj while Adil Hussain slips into the shoes of Kanth. Randeep and Raman met the infamous con artist last month in Nepal. “He (Sobhraj) was pleased with the trailer, the casting and said it’s a quality product. He also said it reminded him of his youth,” said Raman. But why not meet the subject before filming? “We were apprehensive he may spin tales as he is known to do so. So we stuck with Kanth’s angle to get the official version,” quipped Raman, who is working on the Hindi remake of the 2013 Hollywood horror movie “Oculus.” I’m very jealous of Irrfan Khan: Ali Fazal New Delhi — ActorAli Fazal, who made his international movie debut with the seventh instalment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise last year, says he is very jealous of actor Irrfan Khan, who has a growing presence in Hollywood. In “Furious 7”, Ali worked with Vin Diesel. Asked whom he wants to work with on the international platform next, Ali said: “Oh there are many! Tom Hanks is one of my favourite actors... I definitely want to work with him... I am very jealous of Irrfan Khan as he is already do- ing something with him.” The “Fukrey” actor also hopes to work with veteran Hollywood actor Robert De Niro. “I had a chance to meet him and I hope to get to work with him one day,” the 29-year-old actor said. In October, Ali had dropped subtle marriage hints on social media, in sync with his upcoming web series “Bang Baaja Baaraat”, which was featured in the 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival along with his other film “For Here Or to Go”. MaheshBhattropesinGhulamAli New Delhi — Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has roped in Pakistani ghazal singer GhulamAli, who last month called off all his scheduled concerts in India, to sing for his play titled ‘Milne Do’, a collaborative effort of theatre actors from India and Pakistan. Bhatt, whose play nar- rates an intense love story between two culturally- crossed individuals during times of hatred, says they want to “stitch” ties between the neighbouring countries with Ghulam Ali’s voice. “He (Ghulam Ali) has been approached and he has gracefully agreed to lend his voice and be a part of the peace endeavour through performing arts. I can’t say whether he will come to India or not, but he will certainly sing a song which will be a part of the play,” said Bhatt, whose 1990 film “Awaargi” featured a song by Ghulam Ali. After facing resistance by Shiv Sena in India last month, Ghulam Ali — who made an entry into Indian cinema with his popular song “Chupke chupke raat din” for B.R. Chopra’s 1982 film “Nikaah” — cancelled his scheduled performance in Delhi, saying he won’t return to India until “things are settled down”. Then it struck Bhatt — a filmmaker who has been initiating cultural dialogue with the audience and ar- tistes in Pakistan through films and plays — why not use “his voice as the glue to stitch the nations together through this play”. “Milne Do” will be staged April 24 next year at Shri Ram Centre here before it travels to other cities of India and Pakistan. “Laal Band” from Pakistan has composed the music and will perform live during the play, the story for which has been writ- ten by Suhrita, the writer of “Hamari Adhuri Kahani”. Bhatt emphasized that with ‘Milne Do’, they “are saying that the human in- teraction is the only route through which distances cre- ated in the hearts of the peo- ple, can be scaled down”. Condemning all the “un- pleasant” incidents happen- ing in India, he said: “Ghu- lam Ali sahab, a world icon, has been a ghazal king for years. He had an unpleasant experience here in India and has been coming here for years, and we personally, the government — both in Ma- harashtra and at the Centre — have without any hesita- tion conceded that was not the right kind of treatment.” No political agenda, says Salman New Delhi — Salman Khan has added his voice to the issue surrounding Ghu- lam Ali, saying he sees no “political agenda” in Paki- stani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali scrapping all his sched- uled performances in India. Appreciating the success of Pakistani shows in the country, the superstar says art knows “no boundaries” and needs to be appreciated by all. “I don’t think art and culture should be got into all this,” Salman said, about the scrapping of Ghulam Ali’s concerts.
