PRESENCE WITHIN ME opposites - they are 7 r e tt e L l a n o s r e P Past and present are not inextricably linked. The 'Museum for Casts of Classical Sculptures,' where we shot the photos for our newest collection, shows this most impressively: The original version remains visible, but each reproduction is a new imprint, shaped by the here and now. Where we come from continues to resonate within us. Our ancestors, our character traits - they may shape us, but they do not define us. We are more than our history, which we can accept without holding on to it. We carry yesterday within us – what we can shape is our today. New perspectives result from experiences, influ- enced by the people around us. With every step forward and every encounter, we recreate ourselves. When we fully em- brace these transformations, paying attention to the 'presence within me', we can thrive and create a today that will be a strong basis for a tomorrow full of 'positive attitude'. 1. Not a Matter of Taste It's not about favorite colors. It's about creating balance, contrast and effects. Colors – just like prints – are part of friendly hunting's DNA. Mi- chaela is constantly eliminating shades – not because she doesn't like them, but because they just don’t fit – too bright, too bland, too random. In the end, it's not only about what looks good. It's about what looks contemporary and creates a good vibe. And of course, it’s the finished gar- ment that needs to work – not just in theory. 2. Getting Ready for the Big Picture Designing individual pieces is one matter. Put- ting together a complete collection is anot- her. The colors have to work together, the cuts have to complement each other. And the collection as a whole needs to be versa- tile enough so that you can create good looks for a wide variety of situations and people. Before the collection goes on tour, Michae- la checks each item one last time. Not just in terms of workmanship, but also to make sure there is compatibility. These are the fi- nal touches before the collection is rea- dy to leave, and we can send it on its way. 3. You Can't See it. You Can Feel It Not every fabric passes Michaela’s quality con- trol. She touches the material and knows right away: yes or no. Softness alone won’t fool her – it’s more about the substance of the ma- terial. Especially when it comes to cashmere and silk, no compromises are made: They have to deliver what they promise: a fabulous feel and maximum quality. Since the very begin- ning, Michaela and the manufacturers in Nepal have enjoyed a collaboration based on reliabi- lity and a shared, deeply felt sense of quality. 4. Friendly Focus Conversations tend to arise spontaneously – at the long studio table, among fabric samples, by the coffee machine, in the warehouse. Lis- tening, evaluating – and then wrapping it up. That's Michaela and her approach to design. With a sharp eye, a keen instinct and plen- ty of experience, she creates four collections per year, each one with a new theme, but al- ways with her unmistakable signature style.
Reading And Work. Is Pleasure Michaela is a passionate reader – especially of fine books and high-qua- lity magazines. Taking a break on the sofa to read helps her to change perspective, blending genuine escapism with per- petual design research. It's a time for thoughts to wander, images to connect and new ideas to form – preferably whi- le enjoying an aromatic cup of tea from her own friendly hunting porcelain. FAVORITE OCCUPATION: DISCOVERING DETAILS In Dogs We Trust Decisions are not always made at the meeting table. Sometimes they come about while strolling along, so- metimes in silence – during morning and evening walks in Peterhof's large garden, accompanied by Otis' zig- zag course and Alma's elegant trot. is part of Mi- chaela and Christian's everyday rou- tine. Moving past old trees, raspber- ry bushes and fragrant kitchen herbs, they clear their thoughts and shar- pen their focus on the essentials. It’s not a method or a ritual – simply a way that has been working for them. Taking walks WHAT SEEMS LIKE DECORATION IS ACTUALLY A GENUINE CONNECTION Sideboard Namasté The Buddha is a gift from Ne- pal. Every day, the statue reminds Mi- chaela of the country that has become so much more than just a place for their production. It represents craftsmanship, skills that require patience, and textile techniques that have been passed down for generations. Hand-woven, hand-em- broidered – all of this also characterizes the collections. She personally knows many of the people they have been wor- king with for years and are impressed by their warmth, openness and resilience. 2 3

2 1 1 HOW WOULD YOU ANSWER? Half sentences... The whole Michaela Michaela. The best part of the design process is... letting my mind wander and then appraising and combining the final results. When I see colors, I... immediately want to put them into a context that feels right for me. A design works for me when... the fit seems just right and the person I pictured emerges and becomes visible. Other than fashion, what mostly inspires me are... books and observing day to day situations of other people. For me, true luxury means... having the time to complete activities and processes. In the morning, what I think about first is... myself (something I took away from my Mayr treatment this spring) and the day ahead. What suits me more, though, is reflecting on the day that has gone by (preferably at dusk).

I can't live without ... my loved ones. Every day I try ... to be the best version of myself and not to make any promises that I can’t keep. My personal ritual when I feel overwhelmed... is to retreat and put my hands to work. For me, beauty is... inner strength and authenticity. My suitcase always contains... Books, flip-flops and one or two large cashmere shawls. A fine piece of clothing... highlights your personality without standing in its way.
