Als Reaktion auf barocke Pracht und die Verspieltheit des Rokoko entstand zu Beginn des 19. Jahr hunderts dieses von strengen Linien bestimmte klassizis tische Design. Typisch ist die klare Formgebung, charakteristisch der umlaufende Faden. Um 1850 wurde Augsburger Faden in die WilkensKollektion auf genommen und hat seitdem nichts von seiner Wirkung verloren.
