annual day 2019-20 indian school muscat (middle section) celebrated its 44th annual day, on 25th november 2019 with euphoria, excitement and elation. the chief guest, h.h sayyida mayya al said, and the guest of honour,mr. ajay kummar j, president of the school management committee graced the occasion. this graceful occasion commenced with the rendition of the royal anthem of oman and the national anthem of india. this was followed by a digital presentation, showcasing the great accomplishments of the school. the highlight of the cultural programme was the “jugal bandhi”, a fusion of indian classical music and western music, while the budding artists painted a lovely landscape at the backdrop. h.h sayyida encouraged the students to pursue their dreams relentlessly. the teachers who completed 10 and 20 years of service in the school were felicitated for their loyalty, dedication and commitment. the programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by the head girl. annual athletic meet and drill display indian school muscat organised the 44th annual athletic meet and drill display on 12th december, 2019 with much fervour on the school grounds. mr. jahad bin abdulla bin mohammed al-sheikh, member of the asian athletic federation & secretary general of oman athletic federation, graced the occasion as the chief guest and mr shahab haider rizwi, vice president and chairman, smc, indian school muscat was the guest of honour. a feeling of euphoria had gripped every participant as they were all competing for the cock-house trophy. the flag bearers of all the four houses with their contingents marched around the school ground. it was followed by the splendid drill displays involving mass student participation. the school flag was brought down and handed over in highest solemnity signifying the end of sporting activities for the school year 2019-20. winter strokes 'art is not what you see, but, what you make others see.' the department of visual art proudly displayed their ever time art exhibition, tagged 'winter strokes' on 8th december,2019 in the new multipurpose hall of indian school muscat, containing more than 1000 paintings and 300 sculptures accomplished by the students and art teachers, aiming to show that an artist is hidden in every child. this exhibition offered the audiences an opportunity to experience something new and thought provoking. this exhibition surely rendered more enlightened student artists, enabling them to find a place among the professionals through their works that speak a thousand words from what is pinned behind the glass and the frame.

[oscar wilde] stem challenge on 12th november, 2019 the students of class vii performed a stem activity on the topic balloon-powered car race challenge in the nmph of our school. this challenge was conducted in two phases. in phase 1, students came up with different designs and models and tested the working of their model. 20 teams got qualified for the finale race. in phase two winners of every section participated in the finale race and modified their models for better performance. out of these teams, three best models were selected and awarded. this competition enabled the students to experiment and experience their learning through the hands-on challenge. cyber quiz it's a well-known fact that retrieval aids retention. as quizzes help to embed information in our brains, this provides a firm foundation for the next stage of learning. every year, middle school computer science departmant conducts cyber quiz for classes 7 and 8. the purpose of this quiz is to enable the students to think and learn beyond the syllabus taught in the class. the highest performing student from each class is selected to take part in the final round of quiz. the students show lot of enthusiasm to participate in the cyber quiz. it gives a platform to the tech-savvy students to showcase their knowledge. webinar indian school muscat (middle section) has taken one more leap in making teaching-learning process more effective through its webinar sessions. its first session was successfully conducted on 1st february, 2020 for the students of classes vii and viii. it is a live interactive session that includes audio and visual communication between a speaker and attendees during which students can sign in and clarify their doubts with the subject experts during the time allotted for the same as per the schedule. these online sessions have proved to be beneficial for the students while preparing for their annual examination. indian school muscat, middle section, looks forward to conduct many more online sessions for its students in the year 2020-21.
interactive session on climate change an interactive session on climate change was conducted by green hope foundation on 13th february, 2020 for the students of class viii. the guest speaker was ms. kehkashan basu, founder president of green hope foundation. ms. kehkashan emphasized on networking platform for children and youth, especially girls to carry forward the rio legacy of environmental workshops, climate land degradation, biodiversity conservation, and waste segregation and reversing land degradation. she also highlighted the necessary actions to be taken to conserve the environment and to spread awareness about environment and its sustainability. the students gained a lot of information about climate change through this interactive session. justice, stopping scouts and guides camp 2019-20 78 scouts and 70 guides of class 8 and 26 teachers of indian school muscat attended a two day camp from thursday, 5th december to friday, 6th december, 2019 at indian school muscat. the annual scouts and guides camp for class 7 was conducted at indian school muscat on 8th february, 2020. on 14th december, 2019 the students of class 6 attended the camp at indian school muscat and riyam park was the venue for the students of class 5. the camp started off with the opening ceremony. the camp chief hoisted the flag and declared the camp open. the rules and regulations of the camp were told to the scouts and guides. it was followed by the session on yells, claps and songs,which was really interesting and fun filled. the later segments of the programme were kit inspection, a session on first aid followed by various activities. the activities brought out the inborn talents of the scouts and guides. they were well organized. all good things have to come to an end. the camp came to an end with the lowering of the flag and national anthem. all the scout masters and guide captains were very instrumental in shaping and organizing the camp activities. the students left the campsite and returned to school with many good memories and the love of camping rooted firmly in their hearts.
christmas day indian school muscat (middle section) celebrated the festival of christmas with a special assembly. the festivities for the day unfolded with the illumination of the christmas tree by the principal, dr.rajeev kumar chauhan. he school echoed with christmas carols and holy hymns sung by the school choir. the nativity play enlightened the students about the spirit and message of christmas. a mesmerizing dance sequence which followed the play, enthralled the audience. the grand entry of the santa with his red bag, waving and distributing candies added to everyone's delight. the children carried home the message of sharing and caring as well as the pleasure and pride of spreading peace, true to the spirit of the celebration. diwali assembly the assembly began with the introduction and elaborating the meaning and significance of diwali. it was followed by the lighting of the lamp by vp, avp and other heads of the departments which was accompanied with the chanting of the sholakas in sanskrit by a group of students. a tableau depicting the various facets of life of shri ram was presented by the students. nrityanatika, dandiya and deep dance were performed and the assembly concluded by a nukaad natak. science day world science day for peace and development highlights the important role that science has in society and is celebrated every year on november 10th. the world science day for peace and development 2020 will be devoted to the theme of open science-leaving no one behind. world science day was celebrated in indian school muscat on 11th november,2019. there was a special assembly on the same which included a skit, mime and dance by the students of the middle section. more than eighty students participated in this programme. the principal, vice principal, assistant vice principal and heads of various departments attended the function along with the teachers and students of classes 5 and 6.
children’s day children's day was celebrated with full fervour at indian school muscat on 14th november, 2019.teachers planned a fun-filled day for the students by organizing a special assembly with extravaganza filled with music, dance etc. to express their love and care for them. the students were elated and overwhelmed, they cheered their teachers as they saw them on stage. the hall was buzzing with excitement and joy. in the second half of the day, students participated in a drawing and painting competition. the day ended in a beautiful resonance lingering in everybody's minds. 49th national day at indian school muscat, the middle section celebrated the 49th national day and the 79th birthday of his majesty with gusto, tremendous fervour and true spirit on tuesday, 19th november,2019. a special assembly was conducted to mark this glorious occasion. the deputy wali of muttrah, mr. sayyid mohammed bin ahmed al busaidy was the chief guest. the honourable members of the muscat municipal council, the sheikhs of darsait, and other dignitaries graced the occasion. the special assembly commenced with the quran recital invoking the blessings of the almighty. the assembly had melodious songs, captivating dances by the students and the omani staff and an exquisite cake was prepared in the colors of omani flag. the chief guest and other dignitaries were felicitated with mementos. the function concluded with the vote of thanks. asset day scholars programme indian school muscat is one of the schools in the world, where the asset day scholars programme was held from january 25th to january 30th, 2020 by mr. aniruddh sastry. 24 students across grades vi to viii who qualified through the asset assessments attended this programme. the programme basically dealt with scientific and rational thinking. the students were exposed to the process of scientific inquiry, and how a scientific problem is to be addressed. throughout the training programme, they were encouraged to use rational and scientific thinking in their everyday life. the outcome of this programme aimed at creating independent thinkers and problem solvers. their instructor, mr. aniruddh sastry is a phd holder from iiser-pune. he has also worked with students and teachers to provide innovative learning methods in government schools.
