53 MCKEAN Biographical information Laurie McKean was born in New York City but grew up in San Francisco, California. She lives in Arizona now and sculpts mainly in welded steel. Laurie is currently working on several series including one involving sculptural armor. Worked as a biological archaeologist studying bone material from archaeological sites, and as a bird biologist.
